Job Summary

SEASONAL EMPLOYEE (Pay is $18.00 per hour)

Under direct supervision, performs work that includes, but is not limited to labor related to multiple areas or departments throughout MSD. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions

Cuts and removes grass/weeds adjacent to and/or within the area of MSD owned ditches and drainage channels. Performs basin clearing/cleaning. Provides cleanup related to post sanitary sewer overflow or rain events. Maintains Louisville Loop (MSD responsible sections) and levee including landscaping, using industrial weed eaters and various mowing equipment. Removes debris from the floodwall levee, ditches and drainage channels. Operates weed eaters, small hand tools and lawn mowers. Paints and performs other related general laborer work. Assists with the operation and maintenance of a combination sewer cleaner, flusher or plate truck. Performs project related assignments. Performs labor related to the repair and/or replacement of property service connections (PSCRs), main sewers, manholes and catch basins. Serves as a helper to electrical and mechanical staff. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Necessary to the Work

Knowledge of the proper use of basic hand tools; ability to lift up to 100 lbs. from the ground to a height of 4’8”; ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs for 200’; ability to work under adverse working conditions including inclement weather, contact with raw sewage, in pipes, on creek banks and irregular surfaces.

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or GED; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Must be at least 18 years old. Must take and pass CAPS test. Must have an acceptable and reliable means for being contacted during off-duty hours. Must have safe work habits.
