By joining the Transportation Cabinet, District 11, Equipment Section as a Transportation Auto/ Truck Technician I in Whitley County, you’ll have the opportunity to assist in the repair and maintenance of all medium and heavy equipment in District 11. Holders of the Transportation Auto/ Truck Technician I position will complete tasks such as: Repairing and maintaining equipment such as trucks, tractors, loaders, and other equipment. Learning to safely and properly use and maintain state owned tools and equipment. Learning from senior techs on complex repairs. Holders of this job will obtain the following skills: Maintain records on equipment and implement a preventative maintenance plan. Maintenance experience on all types of equipment. Experience and guidance in working towards automotive certifications. Obtain a Class A Commercial Driver License. Desired candidates possess the following requisite skills or experience applicable to the position: Experience in the automotive and truck repair field. Ability to Communicate both orally and written. Knowledge of Computers. Ability to work shift and on-call schedules. Minimum Requirements EDUCATION: High school graduate. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of automotive/equipment/truck repair technical experience. Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Vocational or technical school training in automotive/truck repair or a related area will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be 18 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Employees in this job classification must furnish the agency's appointing authority within six months of employment in the job classification, documentation that he or she possesses a valid Class A commercial driver's license. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.
